MYSL is a volunteer run organization. We are always looking for club leaders and coaches. The larger league has needs as well! If any of these volunteer roles interest you, please contact amy@mysl.org.
The Minnesota Youth Ski League has been introducing young skiers to rollerskiing through our Skiwerx: Ski for Sport program for almost a decade. More information on Skiwerx, can be found here. We provide rollerskis for our spring, summer and fall programs.
Kids can track their kilometers throughout the season to earn kilometer award pins. This is an incentive to get out and ski during our brief winter! Clubs set their own standards for awards (gold, silver and bronze). A sample from the Hyland Club is 100k gold, 50k silver and 25k bronze.
The overall Top 10 skiers from our SkiSparks and Skiwerx K Counters are invited to our MYSL/Skiwerx Banquet in March to recieve special recognition.
Kids can log all of their skiing kilometers (not just MYSL sessions). We close the K Counter after the first full weekend in March.

Does your skier have the right clothing?
Age 0-5 no taller than child
Age 6-8 child's height
Age 9-12 10cm taller than child
We don't recommend that children skate before age 9.
See our full sizing chart as a pdf below.
We know that plans don't always work out!

The MYSL Refund policy allows for refunds up until the ski club begins meeting. A $5 processing fee per SkiSparks membership will be retained. After the club starts meeting, there are no refunds. Weather sometimes causes a change in plans and no refunds are given for rescheduled, relocated or canceled sessions.
This season the Hyland MYSL club filled within hours after registration was opened. This is something new in the history of the club. The Hiawatha MYSL club also filled very quickly. Registration limits are determined by site administrators and the MYSL does not have the authority to change them.
We are working to formalize a waitlist procedure for our clubs that fill. If your first choice for a SkiSparks club has already filled, please email Chrissy Snider (chrissy@mysl.org) to be put on the waiting list. We will continue working with our popular locations to adjust permitted capacity. If we are able to obtain a permit expansion, we will work off our waitlist, giving priority to families who have agreed to be on the club leadership team (club leader, equipment manager, lead coach).
We encourage you to register for one of our other SkiSparks clubs if your first choice is full. SkiSparks clubs are more alike than different. All use the same curriculum and coaching philosophy. Additionally, all clubs in the Twin Cities metro area have been assigned a back-up location at a facility with snowmaking (Hyland, Elm Creek, Wirth or Edina).
We have worked hard through the spring, summer and fall to open new clubs close to our most popular locations so every child has the opportuntiy to ski with SkiSparks at a location near them. In fact, this year we have SIX new metro clubs, many with equipment rental options! Our new clubs are all led by experienced skiers with a passion for teaching kids how to ski. Families now have even more options to ski with friends, in a location convenient for you.
Please check our Find A Club page for a list of our clubs around the region.
As of October 10, 2018, the following clubs are closed. Below we have listed some suggestions for a great second choice if your first choice has already filled.
Hyland SkiSparks is closed. Please register for a neighboring SkiSparks club.
Hiawatha SkiSparks is closed. Please register for a neighboring SkiSparks club.
Registration will open in early October. Many MYSL SkiSparks Clubs fill up, so you will want to register promptly. Club Rental Equipment is even more limited, so you will want to register ASAP (have your childs, height, weight and shoe size ready). Club rentals are for kids only and waxless (fishscale) skis unless noted. Skis can only be rented at the club that you hold your membership and you must participate fully in the club.

If membership is canceled before sessions begin, 80% of the registration fee will be refunded.
If membership is canceled within two weeks of the season start date, 60% of the registration fee will be refunded. If Skiwerx equipment was rented, it must be returned and a 50% refund will be issued.
We welcome your feedback on our registration procedure. Please email Chrissy Snider (chrissy@mysl.org) with concerns or questions.
See SkiSparks Skill Levels. You can edit your children's skill level in the "Household Info" section of the registration process (even after you register). It would be very unusual to go out of the suggested age-ranges and many children stay in a level for more than one season. Peer groupings of similar age are often more important than specfic skiing ability. Level 5 and 6 and skating levels ard require ski skating equipiment.
