Welcome to Eden Prairie SkiSparks!
We are looking forward to getting outside and skiing together this winter! Our first date is this Sunday, 1/2/22 at 1:15pm.
I am Bonnie Nunez, your volunteer Club Director. I skied with the Eden Prairie High School nordic ski team and have enjoyed having my son in MYSL for the past two years. I am new at this position, so please forgive the delay in getting out information and the learning curve this year :)
If you are new to SkiSparks please look over our welcome information. https://mysl.org/node/127826
Meets: Sunday at Staring Lake (parking lot east of the Staring Lake pavilion, near the amphitheater).
1:30-3:00 pm (Please arrive at 1:15 to check-in/ get equipment on)
Start Date: Sunday, January 2, 2022
Dates: 1/2, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20
Our SkiSparks clubs are successful because of parent volunteers! We are always in need of more volunteers, especially coaches and assistant coaches. Sign-up to volunteer by filling out this form (https://mysl.org/volunteer). Learn more about volunteer opportunities in the Volunteer Manual (https://mysl.org/volunteer_manual).
We currently have a need for coaches and assistant coaches for Levels 1 and 2. MYSL coaches, just like other youth sports, come mainly from the membership of the club. You do not need to be a great skier to coach Level 1 or 2. Enthusiasm and patience are the main requirements :) The curriculum is well laid out, and MYSL has resources to prepare you. Grandpa / Grandma / Brother / Sister / Aunt / Uncle also would make wonderful coaches. Please sign up via the link and let me know that you did. Thank you!
-Please remember that all Level 1 skiers must have a caregiver with them on snow; either on skis or in boots. Skiing is not required. You will need to register as a volunteer and select Sweeper for Level 1.
-Level 1 skiers will not need poles.
-Level 1 will likely be done around the 60 minute mark instead of 90 minutes. (Feel free to leave at that time. Be sure to tell your coach and sign out your skier)
-All skiers, coaches, volunteers will receive their bibs at the first club meeting (1/2) and will return them at the end of the last meeting (2/20)
-A caregiver must sign-in/sign-out the skier
-All skiers must have a caregiver within 10 minutes of the facility for the duration of the club meeting
-If a skier becomes sick or cold during club, the emergency contact number will be called
-On cold days, caregivers should be close by so they can bring their child to their car to warm up
-Unfortunately, Staring Lake does not have a warming house or bathroom nearby where we meet. Please plan accordingly.
-Please sign up to bring snacks/drinks! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044DA9AB23A0FB6-mysl
