Minneapolis Ski Passes

All of the Minneapolis Trails are maintained by the Loppet Foundation. There is no Loppet Ski Pass, there is only a Minneapolis Park & Rec Board Ski PassSki passes fund trail grooming and maintenance. 

If you are registerd to ski at any of our Minneapolis SkiSparks Clubs (Hiawatha, Wirth or Kenwood); you and your skier will likely need a pass! But which one?

Definitions: 

  • Youth; Skiers 11 and younger as of December 13, 2021
  • Adult; Skiers 12 and over as of December 13, 2021
  • Natural Snow Pass; Pass that allows you to ski on Natural Snow. Snow that falls from the sky without human assistance. Trails that rely only on natural snow are Hiawatha, Chain of Lakes (Kenwood) and Columbia. In addition, parts of Wirth Park are natural snow. 
  • Manufactured Snow; Snow made with "snow guns". Much of Wirth Park is manufactured snow, but not all of it. 
  • All-Access Pass; Pass that allows skiing on Natural Snow as well as Manufactured Snow. 

Standard Annual Ski Pass options and discounts:

Is your skier registered for a Wirth Park SkiSparks Club?

  • All youth skiers (11 and under) need the Youth All-Access Pass.
  • Skiers (12 and older), as well as skiing volunteers (All coaches, assistant coaches, junior coaches and sweepers) need the Adult All-Access Pass
  • Level 1 Parents or other volunteers on foot, do not need a ski pass. 

Is your skier registered for a Hiawatha SkiSparks Club?

  • Youth skiers (11 and under) do not need a pass to ski at Hiawatha.
  • Skiers (12 and over), as well as skiing volunteers need the Adult Natural Snow Pass
  • Hiawatha SkiSparks Members are invited to Wirth Park for Wednesday Family Nights. If you want to participate in sessions at Wirth Park, skiers (youth and adult) will need a Youth or Adult All-Access Pass.
  • If you are not interested in skiing at Wirth, even if there is no snow at Hiawatha, then follow the Natural Snow Pass guidelines above. 

Is your skier registered for the Kenwood SkiSparks Club?

  • Youth skiers (11 and under) do not need a pass to ski at Chain of Lakes (Kenwood).
  • Skiers (12 and over), as well as skiing volunteers need the Adult Natural Snow Pass
  • Kenwood SkiSparks will be using Wirth Park as a no-snow backup locations and Kenwood SkiSparks Members are invited to Wirth Park for Wednesday Family Nights. If you want to participate in sessions at Wirth Park, skiers (youth and adult) will need a Youth or Adult All-Access Pass.
  • If you are not interested in skiing at Wirth, even if there is no snow on the Chain of Lakes (Kenwood), follow the Natural Snow Pass guidelines above. 
  • NOTE For Level 1 Skiers only: It is unlikely that all Level 1 skiers will travel to Wirth Park even if the rest of the club does. Simply follow the Natural Snow Pass guidelines above.

Is your skier registered for the Como or St Anthony SkiSparks Clubs?

  • Como and St Anthony SkiSparks are invited to Wirth Park for Wednesday Family Nights. This will be your primary "backup site" for no-snow conditions. If you want to participate in sessions at Wirth Park, skiers (youth and adult) will need a Youth or Adult All-Access Pass.

Is your skier registered for ANY other metro SkiSparks Club? 

  • SkiSparks Members are invited to Wirth Park for Wednesday Family Nights. If you want to participate in sessions at Wirth Park, skiers (youth and adult) will need a Youth or Adult All-Access Pass.
  • This is not recommended for Level 1 skiers
  • Keep in mind that your club may have a backup plan for a Three Rivers facility (Elm Creek or Hyland), which will require a Three Rivers All Parks Pass for skiers 12 and over and all on-snow volunteers.

Is your skier registered for Minneapolis Skiwerx?

  • All youth skiers (11 and under) need the Youth All-Access Pass.
  • Skiers (12 and older), as well as skiing volunteers (All coaches, assistant coaches, junior coaches and sweepers) need the Adult All-Access Pass

Is your skier registered for Elm Creek Skiwerx?

  • All youth skiers (11 and under) do not need a pass to ski at Elm Creek. Additonally, if they want to ski at Wirth Park occasionally or for Wednesday Night Sprints, they will need the Youth All-Access Pass.
  • Skiers (12 and older) will need a Three Rivers Ski Pass to ski at Elm Creek. Additonally, if they want to ski at Wirth Park occasionally or for Wednesday Night Sprints, they will need the Adult All-Access Pass

MYSL Discount

There is a $40 discount available to offset the "All-Access Pass - Individual or Primary Adult" for the following people:

  • Registered skier 12 and over as of December 13th
  • Leadership Team Member
  • Registered Coach (NOT assistant coach, junior coach, nor sweeper)
