12/31/2021 Update:
Due to dangerously cold temperatures lessons for 1/1/2022 have been canceled. Skier bib pickup will happen in the Hiawatha Golf Course parking lot between 10:00AM and 10:30AM. Please pull up in front of the clubhouse and we will meet you at your car and get you your bib(s).
Session Timing
All levels will begin at 10:00am. Level 1 & Level 2 kids will ski about an hour, Levels 3, 4, 5, & 6 will be out skiing for about an hour and a half. Please make sure your kids are dressed appropriately for the weather and to be outside for this duration.
Hiawatha Golf Course Ski Path Etiquette
The folks who groom the trails at Hiawatha work really hard to maintain our beautiful course. We need to do our part to respect the trials. Only skiers should be on the groomed ski trails. There is a hiking path on the inside of the trail for walkers. Sweepers and coaches who are not on skis are fine to walk with their groups, but they should do their best to stay on the hiking path.
*Equipment Rentals
If you signed up for equipment rental but missed the pickup day please contact club equipment manager Nick Lienesch at nick.lienesch@gmail.com. There is not a schedule second pick-up date but Nick will work with you to get your rental pickup sorted out. If you believe you signed up for a rental but haven’t received any emails regarding it please reply to this message and us know so that we can look into it.
*Names & Pronouns
If your child has a name they would like their coach to use other than the name used during registration, or if you’d like to be sure your child’s coach knows their pronouns, please send us an email by Monday, December 27.
Make sure you've purchased any necessary passes prior to our first session. All ski passes can be purchased through the Loppet Foundation.

All skiers (youth and adult) who plan to ski on snowmaking/lighted trails at Theodore Wirth Park.
Hiawatha SkiSparks members are invited to Wirth Park for Wednesday Family NIghts. All skiers who plan to participate in sessions at Wirth Park, both youth and adults, will need to purchase an All-Access Pass from the Loppet Foundation.
We will also use Wednesday nights as backup opportunities should we have no snow or if we have to cancel a session due to weather.
Inclement Weather
We will notify you Wednesday evening if we are considering canceling a session due to weather, and email you a final decision by Friday evening. Wednesday Family Nights can be used as make-up sessions.
COVID
Please do your best to help keep everyone in our club healthy and safe this winter.

Masks
Face masks are required inside the Hiawatha Golf Course Clubhouse.
Bathrooms at Haiwatha
Please make sure all skiers have used the bathroom before ski club begins. We believe we will have clubhouse access this year (masks required inside the clubhouse), but it is always easier for kids and coaches if this has been taken care of before you arrive at Hiawatha.
Water and Snacks
Cross-country skiing burns a lot of calories, and your skiers will likely be hungry and thirsty when they are done for the day. We do not plan to provide snacks this year. Please make sure your child has eaten before coming to ski club, and bring water and/or snacks for your skier when you pick them up.
