Priority and discounts on facility permits
MYSL’s non-profit status often allows for preferential permits or discounted pricing on permits. Much more info on permits can be found HERE.
Clubs are allowed to do their own fundraising. Funds can be used to buy equipment (goes to your equipment fund) or other expenses (discretionary fund).
Fundraising is tax-deductible and this statement must be given to donors:
"Your contribution is fully tax-deductible under terms of section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. No goods or services were provided in return for this contribution. The Minnesota Youth Ski League's federal tax exemption number is 41-1764450."
Sales tax waiver on certain purchases
MYSL is exempt from paying sales tax in many situations. Typcially, a ST-1 form will be requested. Please contact Amy.
State and federal tax filing and registrations
MYSL takes care of all state and federal registrations and tax filings.
A few clubs hold checkbooks. They must submit their own tax filing unless they are using the MYSL tax id (grandfather clause), in which case they need to submit an income/expense report and bank statements to MYSL yearly.
