Bunker Hills SkiSparks Club needs a new leader! Please email amy@mysl.org if you are interested in being a club leader. Thank you in advance for your volunteering!
Welcome to MYSL at Bunker Hills
We are excited for an another wonderful year of skiing!!!
2022 Schedule and Location
Our meeting location is at the Bunker Hills Golf Course.
12800 Bunker Prairie Road Northwest, Coon Rapids, MN 55448 (located at CR 14 and Foley Blvd). Follow the signs to the Golf Course (left turn, then take second right into parking lot).
Equipment
If you rented equipment from MYSL this year we will be sending out information in the first part of December about a pick up time.
We will not ski if the air temperature is below 0˚ F, the wind chill is below -10˚ F, or at the leader's discretion. Cancellations will be sent out by email to the address provided at registration.
Clothing
Dress your child appropriately for the day's weather. Start with good ski socks. Younger children that fall more easily could wear snow suits if there is new snow. Older children should wear layers: polypropylene or moisture wicking under layer, insulating fleece or wool layer, and a non-absorbent wind proof outer layer to cut the wind and keep out the snow. Warm hats and mittens are mandatory. Please use your discretion noting your child's activity level and the outside temperature/wind chill. Often a winter jacket and snow pants or a snow suit are too warm once the child gets skiing.
Water
Kids in levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 should have and carry a water bottle. Parents should carry bottles for the younger kids in levels 1 and 2. These kids go pretty hard and get dehydrated quickly. As they will drink sweet tasting liquid more easily in the cold, consider Gatorade or Powerade.
Volunteering
This is a volunteer run club and we need all the help we can get to be on snow in February! The success and affordability of this program comes directly from your contributions of time, energy, and talent. By registering for this club, you are committing to the club's success and are agreeing to volunteer.
Level 1 skiers will need to be accompanied by a parent. Coaching at level 1 is a great way to accompany your child.
+++Please consider coaching or assistant coaching as it is our number one need! You do not necessarily need to coach at your child's level. Please e-mail Jeremiah at the club e-mail if you can help. No experience necessary+++
Following are some needed areas of volunteer service:
Coaches -
Coaching is one of the more enjoyable volunteer opportunities. The MYSL program makes it easy for a coach to know what to do. An eight week curriculum has been prepared for every class level and each day's lesson. The guide also provides many helpful tips and games to keep classes enjoyable and interesting. You do not have to be an elite level skier to be a coach. All you need is a desire to help kids and have fun. We really need your help! If you are considering to volunteer as a coach, please contact me. It is important to finalize our coach count early.
Assistant and Sub Coaches –
Parent tag-a-longs for all levels. Assist skiers as they learn to put on and take off skies. Walk or ski alongside the group and give encouragment.
