Jessie Diggin's "Brave Enough" Book Launch
Join us for the official book launch event for Brave Enough, the memoir from 2018 Olympic gold medalist, U. S. Women’s National Cross-Country Ski team member, and hometown hero Jessie Diggins, co-written with Todd Smith.
For the first time at this special event, Diggins will share the story of her journey from her childhood in Afton, MN, to one of the greatest sports moments in our nation’s history: her historic sprint to the finish line for Gold in the team sprint event at the Pyeongchang Olympics. You’ll hear stories of races and ribbons as well as stories about the challenges and frustrations of becoming a serious athlete. And you’ll learn from Jessie herself about how she uses her platform as an Olympian and World Cup athlete to fight for the causes that she is deeply invested in. In the words of her teammate and fellow Olympic champion, Kikkan Randall, “Her story motivates all of us, and she gives us hope and real tools to tackle our biggest challenges. She is an inspiration for everyone!” Diggins will also share stories from her most recent season of World Cup races, of the lessons she learned, and the exciting trips to the podium she earned!
Copies of Brave Enough will be available for purchase from Valley Bookseller, or skip the line and pre-order your copy of Brave Enough for pick-up at the event. Jessie will host an autograph and selfie line with help from the Stillwater Ponies Nordic team members.
This event is part of ArtReach St. Croix’s NEA Big Read in the St. Croix Valley. NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Donations are requested for ArtReach’s literary arts programs and will be split with charities dear to Jessie’s heart including WithAll Foundation and Protect Our Winters.
Although this event is free and open to the public, pre-registration is requested.
