Battle Creek SkiSparks Announcements -- 1/26/20

t will be a fantastic day of skiing at Battle Creek! I skied almost all of the trails on Friday and everything is in fantastic shape throughout the entire system.

Please remember to be ready to start skiing at 2:00. All skiers need to find their correct level and check in with the coach with the clipboard so we know you are here!

We are back at Staring Lake. Trails are great and the weather is good for skiing.

SkiSparks Saturday Wirth - January 25, 2020

Hello MYSL Families,

I'm used to watching for cold weather to see if we need to cancel MYSL. But, this week was so warm and the snow so plentiful, I forgot to send our weekly Thursday email.

We will hold our club meeting as usual at 3:00 PM. Meet your coaches outside today and enjoy the warm weather.

It was great to see so many families last week braving the wind chill. I've never seen Level 1 kids ski so far in the third week of the season.

1/19 PRACTICE CANCELLED - Highland 9 Ski Club Announcements

At the recommendation of the MYSL coordinators and the National Weather Service, practice is cancelled today, January 19. The temperature is estimated to be 10 degrees (feeling like -3) and the windchill is hovering around 0 or lower, with gusts making it difficult to put up our tent for skiers to come in and warm up.

Week 3 Jan 19, 2020 - Staring Lake

We are skiing at Starting Lake Park on Sunday January 19th. We'll finish at 2:30 because of the low temperatures.

45 minute session - SkiSparks Saturday Wirth - January 18, 2020

Good Morning MYSL.

It's hard to resist the new snow on the ground, so we're going to hold an abbreviated 45-minute session today.

Please use your discretion as driving will be tricky. Unless you are coaching, there's no need to email if your family sits this one out.

Temperatures are projected to be well above zero, but the wind chill may be as low as -15, so please bundle up—use buffs or face masks—and come in early if you are cold.

Week 2, January 12. Staring Lake Park

We had a great first week! We will be back at Staring Lake. The snow has been groomed!

Saturday Wirth Session 2 - January 11, 2020

It looks like the temperatures are holding up for Session 2, though it will be cloudy with high humidity and some wind from the northeast. It will feel colder than the projected 17 degrees, so prepare accordingly.

Families who missed last week can pick up bibs and name cards in the Trailhead beginning at 2:15.

Coaches will meet skiers just outside the Trailhead building before heading out to ski at 3:00.

If you have questions about level placement, please look for me at the bib pickup table.

2020- K Counter- Updated Weekly

Kids can track their kilometers throughout the season to earn kilometer award pins during our closing ceremonies. This is an incentive to get out and ski during our brief winter! K’s can be earned during and outside of ski club. Any K’s skied this winter count- even if they were prior to the start of ski club!
