Coach Matt Whitcomb said it best tonight in Falun when he exclaimed, ‘the group I’m most happy for today are all the nine year old kids in America who will be motivated by these medals.’

The Skiwerx Series, proudly sponsored by Fast Wax and the Minnesota Youth Ski League, and the CXC Youth Cup will be at the half-way point after this weekend's racing. The Twin Cities Championships, now with an updated schedule and venue change to Wirth Park in Minneapolis, will take place on Saturday January 24th with a classic mass start format for U10, U12 and U14 age groups. Racing for the youth age groups begins at 9:00am.
Along with the Skiwerx Series, the metro-centered youth series for U10, U12 and U14 age groups, this is one of the few events that also scores as a CXC Youth Cup event, a regional series, in the U14 and U12 age groups.
A convenient printable summary of the Skiwerx Series and CXC Youth Cup events can be found here: Youth Race Series.
Lots of hardware is on the line! And the top 8 girls and boys in the U14 age group in the CXC Youth Cup will earn an invitation to a Dream Camp this June in Marquette, Michigan with US Olympic Team members.
Youth racers need a CXC/Skiwerx Youth Race License to earn points in either series. We will begin seeding pre-registered skiers in the U12 and U14 age groups beginning this weekend. Racers with a license and points in either series coming into an event (license needs to be purchased at least one week prior to the event) will be given priority seeding over racers with no points. We can not seed racers that register day-of event.
Current Skiwerx Series standings can be found here.
Current CXC Youth Cup standings can be found here.
Come out and join the fun at Wirth this weekend! Youth and Citizen online registration closes at 11:59pm Thursday night. Day-of registration also available.
If you have questions about the Skiwerx Series or the CXC Youth Cup, please contact Amy Cichanowski, Executive Director of the Minnesota Youth Ski League. We will retro-actively point, so there is still time to get your license, but please do it today!
Another great night for the Hoigaards MYSL Team Sprints! We had 13 adult/child teams brave the brisk conditions. Many were first time racers. Congratualtions and thanks to our volunteers and Hoigaards for another terrific season of Team Sprints. See you next year. Results posted here.
