Feb 15 2012 - 6:45pm 2.15.12 RACE SUMMARY: The MYSL/Hoigaard’s Team Sprint Series celebrated a fitting conclusion to the brown winter with light “snowfall” at Theo Wirth Park tonight. 24 Teams raced with the majority in the Parent/Child Championships with a longer format 2k for adults and a shorter .3k for youth. The track at Wirth was in great shape even after a bit of rain in the late afternoon and was extremely fast and conditions made for an exciting race. The Father/Son Duo of Corey and Torsten Brinkema were the fastest combo, with fastest overall family of 4 going to The Bednarski family. Paul and Maria Schoening were 3rd overall and fastest Father/Daughter Team. Great turn out for the overall series of 7 evenings, mark your calendars for next year’s series now! Special thanks again to the Teoh family for baking the pies and to our wonderful Hoigaard’s/Breadsmith Nordic volunteers for making the series happen every week. The track at Wirth was in great shape, warm humid temps finally prevailed and fast conditions made it a lightening race. We were graced by some Super Tour athletes including Tad Elliot who teamed up with 8 year old Garrett Teoh and they finished 4th overall! Garrett was actually turning faster laps than Tad. We had 15 teams in all categories toe the line and race all out for the (now famed) homemade pie (Apple-Almond torte) which was awarded to the best Adult team of the LaFrance brothers. Special thanks again to the Teoh family for baking a pie and to our wonderful Hoigaard’s/Breadsmith Nordic volunteers for making the race happen. Hoigaard’s Volunteer Punch Card Program: (There is still time to get your punch card filled!) -Volunteer for 4 Series Events = Wax Future 2 Hot Wax 1.18.12 RACE SUMMARY: We had another great turnout for the Wednesday night MYSL/Hoigaard’s Team Sprint Series race at Theo Wirth park last night and another wind storm rolled in just in time for racing! The track at Wirth was in the best shape yet after a dusting of snow. Again, we started the evening with some light fluffy snow coming down and ended with a cold and blustery evening where the temperature dropped 15 degrees and wind chill prevailed over several teams that had to quit. We had 20 teams in all team categories toe the line and race all out for the (now famed) homemade pie (Peanut Butter/Chocolate) which was awarded to the best Mixed-Adult/Youth team of Phil and Madeleine Guillery. On tap was an 6 x 1.6k relay that proved quite challenging due to the high winds and chill that mother nature provided for us. Special thanks to the Teoh family for baking a pie and to our wonderful Hoigaard’s/Breadsmith Nordic volunteers for making the race happen. Thanks to all that came out for some fun racing and contributing to MYSL Youth Ski programs. We hope more forgiving conditions in coming weeks, look for updates on www.Skinnyski.Com or on the MYSL Facebook page regarding format and schedule. NOTE: next week we will have a later start time (probably 7pm) and take to the course immediately following the SuperTour Prologue Sprints. Results attached below. 1.17.12 UPDATE: The Hoigaards Team Sprint Series continues this Wednesday, Jan 18 2012 - 6:45pm at Theo Wirth Park. The lit snow making loop is in great condition after some man-made and natural additions. A $5 donation requested per race for adults (kids race free). All proceeds go towards MYSL youth ski programs! And…there will be homemade pie for winners in a surprise category! On-site registration only (you can print and fill out form below and bring it with you). Registration begins at 5:30 pm in the main Chalet and ends at 6:20…races start at 6:45 pm. New Hoigaard’s Volunteer Punch Card Program: (Yes, we actually have the punch cards this week!) -Volunteer for 4 Series Events = Wax Future 2 Hot Wax 1.11.12 RACE SUMMARY: Thirty-eight teams competed under the lights and dropping temps. Pie will be a weekly addition to the series. So make your plans now! Results (as best as we could do) are attached below. The winter is not a complete brown out yet as we had a record turnout for the Wednesday night MYSL/Hoigaard’s Team Sprint Series race at Theo Wirth park showing that our ski community is persistent and dedicated! The track at Wirth was left icy after a warm start to the day and a cold and blustery evening where 25 degrees felt like -5 prevailed. We had 76 hearty skiers in all team categories toe the line and race all out for the homemade pie (Apple) awarded to the victorious team. On tap was an 8 x 1.2k relay that proved more challenging than predicted with some teams taking more than 45 minutes to complete. Each week the Teoh’s will be baking a pie for winners in different categories, we’ll affectionately named the series the “Pie-Loppet” from here on out! We may even introduce a “Pie-Athalon” category! Thanks to all that came out for some fun racing and contributing to MYSL Youth Ski programs. Also big thanks to amazing volunteers who pulled it off on a challenging night! We hope for the same turnout in coming weeks, look for updates on www.Skinnyski.Com or on the MYSL Facebook page regarding format and schedule. Results and split times are as complete as we could get considering the large turnout and number of laps per skier, forgive us if we missed a few! 1.10.12 Update: We’ve launched a new Volunteer Punch Card program with Hoigaard’s support: -Volunteer for 4 Series Events = Future 2 Hot Wax! -Volunteer for 6 Series Events = Nordic Stone Grind! -All volunteers will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Hoigaard’s gift certificate. 1.4.12 RACE SUMMARY: We had a great opening night with 12 teams and all categories represented.
