What is Skiwerx?
Skiwerx is a year-round program for active kids age 9-13 that want to learn a variety of training skills (speed, strength, endurance, flexibility). Skiwerx programs meet two or three times weekly with dedicated and qualified coaches. We've set up cooperative sessions with some of the metro area's best known ski training clubs.
We will be holding Fast Camps (see Upcoming Events on the left side bar) that can be used as an introduction to Skiwerx style training or to extend your season.

Methods and Research
The Skiwerx program was developed after research indicated that the Midwest region is way behind in this type of programming. Most of our youth athletes choose other, more structured sports at this age and leave skiing behind. I'm excited about the new opportunities that Skiwerx will provide to our next generation of skier.
We are using the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Research as the basis for our training methods. See http://www.canadiansportforlife.ca for a plethora of information. The Skiwerx program fits into the "Learning to Train" stage, which is a critical time to learn "physical literacy" which gives children the platform they need to become successful athletes as well as the necessary skills they will need to remain active and healthy for life.
