Wednesdays 6:30 pm at Battle Creek starting January 5^th.

We have a number of skiers ready to ski this year and are always on the lookout for more.   The East Metro Silver Skis group will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm at the Battle Creek Recreation Center (Winthrop St. and Lower Afton Rd., St. Paul - near 3M).   This well-lit course provides a variety of challenging terrain to work on skills and have some fun too.

We would like to meet every Wednesday through Feb. or later if the snow holds.

Silver Skis is primarily targeted at experienced skiers at or beyond level 5 who are interested in improving their endurance and learning some race level skills. Race participation will be supported but not required. Our main goal, as always, is to have fun! Generally the ages for this group are 10-14 years old. Skiers must belong to one of the regular MYSL clubs in order to participate in Silver Skis.

We will be using both skate and classic technique so please plan to have equipment for either technique. Combi boots and combi skis are OK but two pairs of poles really a necessity so you have the right length for each technique. Two cheap pairs of poles are a much better option than one fancier pair that's the wrong length. (Given that kids grow in big spurts, we know this won't always work out perfectly)

Please register online as a regular club skier through your home club and this year you can also register for Silver Skiers on-line too.   There will be paper registration for Silver Skiers on the first Wednesday evening meeting if needed.  There is a $15 fee to join the Silver Skis club.
