Hello! There is a windchill advisory out for today, with winds around 20 mph. So the kids don't turn into kidscicles I think it's in our best interest to stay indoors today!! -Nikki Directions: From Downtown DL: Go East on Hwy 10 and at the stop lights turn left onto County Rd 54.(Also the intersection of 10 and East Shore Dr by Country Inn & Suites). Take the second left onto Tower Road. Follow Tower Rd and Mountain View Rec Area is on the right just after the road turns to gravel.
Saturday, March 7th at 3 PM there will be a kid's race addition to the Lotvola Cup festivities at Maplelag Resort! The race will be approx 2.5k (They will do "Sap Run" twice). More details still coming- we would love to see kids from several different MYSL groups out besides the DL kids. Please come and join us! I will post additional information as I learn it. You can also email me at ncaulfield01@hamline.edu or watch the Maplelag website: www.maplelag.com
Despite the blustery day we had yesterday we've got a perfect day today to ski! Two weeks in a row- pretty amazing, huh? Parents, please bring skis today! See you at Dunton Locks at 2:30!! Well, it was -29 when I left for work this morning and not supposed to get a whole lot warmer through the course of the day... but thankfully I just checked the weather and it looks like this cold should be gone by the weekend and we'll be back into the low teens. This just might mean we can meet two weeks in a row!! The kids are doing great, we are so impressed with how well the whole group is skiing! Big thanks to all the parents who came with skis last Sunday. More hands trying to help some of the little ones are greatly appreciated! I absoultely hate to cancel again, but we keep getting these blasts of icy air on Sundays! The temps are currently well below zero with a wind of about 15mph forcing the windchills into the -30 range. However, I have announced some make up days due to all of these weather cancellations so you can still get your time in on skis! I will send a letter as well with the following information, but here it is for now: Hey Everyone- I hate to do this two weeks in a row, but while my thermometer says 0 degrees on the button, the windchill is -31 so it's waaaay too cold for the little ones to be out for 2 hours! (Frostbite is no fun, believe me) For the Detroit Lakes MYSL Group: We won't meet today. I currently can't see out of my front window, the temp says 3 and the wind looks crazy! Your homework for next week: keep hopping up and down on one foot (do this on both feet.). Practice balancing. Next Sunday we'll have some great snow conditions! See you then! Hey All According to NOAA (www.noaa.gov) our area is supposed to get pounded this weekend with a huge snowstorm. (yay!) However- on Sunday we will have to see what the temps and snow/wind/road conditions are. The current prediction is "heavy snow and strong wind"... but given the accuracy of the weather folk sometimes I'll believe it when I see it. :) |
